History

Our history

A century-long history

Our business began towards the end of the 19th century, when our ancestors Ulisse and Franco began marketing bulk wine in the area.

From 1920, Ferruccio and Angelo continued the business undertaken by their parents and not even wars could stop them. They left at the beginning of the week with donkey and cart and stayed away for up to three or four days, so as to be able to deliver the wine from Montecarlo to the Carpinelli Pass and back.

The turning point of the 60s

In the 1960s it was Learco and Silvano's turn to take the reins of the business and they had the idea of starting to bottle the wine in flasks on their own, as well as selling it in demijohns. They sold red, white and Chianti wine and were known as "Cantina di San Salvatore".

In 1968 they changed headquarters and moved to the current building.

Between the 70s and 80s, the sons of Learco and Silvano entered the company: Luca, Franco, Ulisse, Riccardo and Sandro. With them, the "La Fortezza Vini" brand was born in 1986 and they began to bottle bottled wine.

The fifth generation

Between 1999 and 2000 the following arrived at La Fortezza: Emanuele, Federico, Fabrizio and Saul-Luca, the new owners together with Franco and Sandro. It is here that the company combines table wines with carefully selected quality products, bottled and sold under its own brand.
